Ramon Santiago

My dear friend Ramon Santiago with his work pictured to the right, was a great inspiration to me in my early painting career. I wanted to take a moment to showcase some of his work and perhaps one of my most favorite pieces Cirk. Ramon was a very humble man and eager to help me become a great painter.
Below, is a side-by-side comparison to include my work which was inspired with a similar title, Cyrk.

Thank you.

Ducret School of Art: Painting and Figure Drawing Class

It is a great honor to now be teaching a fantastic group of students at DuCret School of Art is South Plainfield, NJ.  Our 15 week spring semester focuses upon academic figure drawing and traditional oil painting techniques.

The students have the opportunity to draw for the first half of the semester from life and also from plaster drawing casts (seen above) while traditional methods are explored.  As the students evolve and gain an understanding of form and anatomy, the class continues with a focus upon oil painting, color mixing, and academic techniques.    The painting and figure drawing class is a Thursday evening time slot from 7-9:30 and new students are welcome to join.  Thank you.

Jerry’s Artarama Wilmington, DE: Billy Seccombe Self-Portrait Painting Demo

Jerry’s Artarama in Wilmington, DE graciously allowed me to do a 4 hour live painting demonstration in their front window on March 19.  The demo featured my WIP self-portrait entitled Love Thyself for the Jerry’s open call for submissions self-portrait contest. I discussed my technique, Rosemary & Co. brushes and Michael Harding Oil Paints which are both terrific brands that I’m affiliated with.  Thank you.

International Artist Magazine April/May 2016 Issue 108

It is with great pleasure that I share another great opportunity to be published in International Artist Magazine.  This most recent article featured an article I wrote with respect to painting on aluminum traffic signs.   The recent exploration of a new surface has been wonderful and I’ve fully enjoyed the experience.  The attached issue chronicled the process of painting a new work entitled Danger High Voltage as I shared with readers my approach to portrait painting.  Thank you.

I am absolutely honored to share that I was featured in the February/March 2015 issue of International Artist Magazine.  It was a fantastic opportunity to work with the editors there to produce a step-by-step piece of a recent portrait commission.  The commission was to be featured on the follow up album by long-time friend and jazz musician Enoch Smith Jr.  The article chronicle the evolution of the work and the development of a look to capture the Misfits II: Pop album.  Below, is a a few images from the article.  Misfits II: Pop can be found on iTunes. Thank you.
